Caramel Apple Cake

Ingredients:

  1. 2 Gala apples, sliced with slicing disc (thickest setting)
  2. ¼ cup flour
  3. ¼ cup sugar
  4. 2 tsp. cinnamon
  5. ¼ tsp. all spice
  6. 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
  7. 1 yellow box cake mix
  8. 1 cup water
  9. ½ cup applesauce
  10. 3 eggs
  11. 1 cup caramel bits, divided

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9”x13” pan.
  2. In a medium size bowl mix together the apples, flour, sugar, cinnamon, all spice and ground cloves. Pour into the greased pan.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, water, applesauce and eggs. Fold in ¾ cup caramel bits.
  4. Pour the mixture over the apples and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool. Microwave the remaining ¼ cup caramel bits and drizzle over the top of the cooled cake.
  7. Slice and serve with ice cream, if desired.

Note: have a large toaster oven? Bake your cake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
