Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING Watch out as the front of the box clearly has a dishwasher icon and states REMOVABLE DISHWASHER-SAFE NONSTICK PLATES, and this is repeated on the back BUT the manual on Page 9 clearly states in caps DO NOT PLACE THEM IN A DISHWASHER! This was verified by a customer service rep who eventually put me on endless hold. Consumer BEWARE! Don't think I'll be keeping this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Plates loose coating I bought this product because it makes American style waffles (not Belgian). After about 2 years the nonstick coating began coming off on the waffles. Just little bits at a time. For the last few years now the coating that remains has been fine and I use no-stick spray and the waffles come out of the waffler just fine.I was surprised to see how many people experienced the same problem with the plates of the coating coming off. Also if I don't use no-stick spray the waffles stick to the waffle plates as many have said. Are replacement plates available and are they better made? How much are they?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The plates! I bought this years ago because my grandmother had one. She had the best. (including the B&D Toast R Oven which ROCKED!) Used it about a dozen time to make the kids waffles. Each time, the sticking would get worse. I would always hand was the plates. This last time, I brush oil in the plates and it was still a disaster. Where can I get new plates??...preferably cast Iron.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frustrating I have always trusted the Black & Decker name for quality, but I'm totally disappointed in this waffle iron. Mine was a gift, so the only solace I have is that I didn't waste MY money buying it. The waffle plates stick so bad they have to be soaked and scrubbed to get them clean - and, worst of all, no waffle for me to eat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Greatest Invention Ever! This thing works great. I've made waffles, pancakes, French toast, bacon, eggs, sausage, grilled sandwiches and veggies on it. I have a big family, so it would be nice if they came up with a double wide one. So instead of 4 waffles at a time, it could make 8 at a time! Then you could flip the cooking surface over and then BOOM! Double the cooking space! It cooks quick, clean up can't get any easier and it doesn't heat up the house. Oh, and no smoke! Black and Decker, if you take my suggestion, I want a cut of the prize! ;P.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing Same as all the reviews...sad that they changed the product. Don't fix if it's not broke. Never buy another one ever

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality of the "non stick" surface I too have the same problem with the non stick coating coming off. I get little black specks in the waffles that I have to pick out. Unfortunately I have to throw some out instead of feeding them to my kids. Too bad, like others have commented on, definitely not like the Black and Decker quality of years past.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A shadow of its predecessors I bought one of these on line because it looked exactly like the wafflemaker I grew up with. The old one had cast iron plates that made wonderful waffles, but this one has flimsy aluminum plates coated with a 'non stick' coating that works poorly. It has difficulty maintaining a stable temperature.
