Rated 2 out of 5 by from Trying to decide what to do... Though the online reviews elsewhere were relatively positive, I'm having some of the same problems as others are reporting here. The first one we bought two weeks had what we assume was just a faulty timer. After 'turning to 10 and back", no dial position, no matter how close to the light toast or the off position would shut itself off in less than 8 minutes burning the bread every time, and the dark toast position went 20+ minutes. Bed, Bath and Beyond let us do a quick swap (Thanks!) and now we have a second one. Timer is a bit better but still moves at a glacial pace and is inconsistent no matter how it is set, so you have to watch your toast constantly. And today my son pointed out that the unit does not have the standard safety feature of shutting off when the door is opened like our 15 year old one had. Are we seeing just units from a bad batch or do I need to upgrade to a better unit? And do other toaster ovens have auto-shutoff which I think should be a required feature? (Model TO1356SG which seems to differ from the shown only in the style knobs)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of Junk ! It is a pretty simple piece of equipment. It shouldn't be hard to manufacture a toaster oven that works. It's not a car, or a computer, or the Space Shuttle. I use it only to toast. It has decided to turn the heating elements on and off at its whim. At this point it's more off than on. It definitely warms the bread, and toasts it half way if you wait long enough. It was actually a nice toaster oven which I really liked before the elements started turning off capriciously.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product The Black & Decker name no longer means what it used to. The dials are unnecessarily confusing. The timer does not work, and burns every kind of bread that is put in for toast. There is only one rack, instead two as in the prior-owned B&D. We need to replace this product with one that is better designed for the typical functions.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Terrible -- uneven heating and painfully slow. The dial for minutes to cook/toast darkness is too vague. It can never provide a consistent piece of toast! I would not buy it again nor exchange it because I have bought a few different ones, hoping for the quality, consistency and longevity of our very first Black and Decker toaster oven.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Hate it Once the timer is set, there is no way to turn it off until the timer goes off. The toaster is very unpredictable, and we have burnt several things, even catching one item on fire. The bottom catch tray is a nightmare to clean and quickly lost its finish. This toaster oven was bought to replace the 12 year old one in our small 3 person office, and we regret it without hesitation. The older model we had was simple with less dials and options - sometimes keeping it simple is best.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Wrong specifications The black and decker site lists the width as 14.5". The toaster measures 15.5" wide however. I did my homework in advance to find something that would work for my 15" countertop space next to my stove. I am disappointed to have relied on wrong specs from the manufacturer itself. This inattention to key detail may be why other reviews here are poor as well.
