Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good fryer, bad quality Bought this unit about two years ago. Have had great success with it however early in its life the handle went bad and I see lots of people with the same issues once I started looking. Seems like its the weak point. I have sent sn email to them but do not expect much to come out of it since its been two years since I purchased it. Beware...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I like the product, poor manufacturing standards This product is made poorly with cheap materials. My insert will not fit into the fryer today after I washed it. The difference seemed to be that I washed it while it was still hot. It seems to have gotten warped. So now it is unusable. I am so disappointed. It did a fine job up until today.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great results but basket problems I bought this a month ago from Amazon. At first it worked great, and I really like the results. For the last couple of days the basket will not reinsert if taken out to check doneness or to turn food. I haven't been able to determine why, but am guessing something is swelling from the heat. If I let it sit for a little while, then it will reinsert and I can resume the frying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great! I have tried other air fryers and this is definitely at the same caliber as the more expensive ones. Works quick and is very simple to use. I definitely would recommend this item to anyone who is wanting an air fryer!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cooks well but basket handle fell apart in 6 month Received the HF100WD fryer as a Christmas present in Dec 2017. It cooks very well - wings, pork, french fries, ribs - all good. It gets used maybe 3-4 times a weekUnfortunately the design and materials of construction of the basket handle and the pan do not match up to the good performance. Took the basket out of the machine yesterday (June 2018) - basket part (HF100WD-02) disengaged from the Pan Part (HF100WD-01) in mid air (without touching the release button) and the pan fell on the floor. Scared the life out of me!Looked like the two metal hooks on the inside of the handle were no longer engaging reliably onto the pan because of problems in the handle - hence the separation of the basket and panCould still use the pan by supporting the pan with an oven mitt while removing the pan from the fryer, but today the handle disintegrated - see photosProblem seems to be the plastic inside the basket release mechanism has failed due to the heat, and has broken apart. Looks like plastic got brittle. Screws sockets that were holding the basket to the handle broke away from the plate. Front of the pan is also slightly warped from the heat, and does not fit perfectly into the fryer as it once did.I trust Black and Decker will honor the warranty (stated at 2 years)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Soggy after 60 min I recently received this product as a gift however after 3 different recipe attempts it simply hasn't made anything crispy or fully cooked. Attempt 1) hash brown patties, cooked at 400, not overlapping for 12 min - result was soggy uncooked patties. We tried it repeatedly upping the cook time 15 min until we reach 60 min and each time the patties came out raw. Attempt 2) sweet potato fries - again cooked at 400, after the preheat was done I placed 1/2 lb of fried into the basked and set it to 20 min, not cooked and certainly not crispy, I upped the time again and again, and the result was mushy sweet potato. Attempt 3) Pillsbury Crescent Rolls - by this time I just wanted to see if the machine itself was faulty - cooked at 375 for the stated 8 min, again mushy results, I then increased the time for 10 more minutes (now 3min more than if cooked in a regular oven) and again the outcome was mushy. I'm left wondering if this is simply not a quality device worthy of the Black+Decker brand or if somehow my fryer was faulty from the start.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Loose screws sink good fryers The frying part is excellent, but some of the basic construction is weak. The key to a good crisp is to start the air-frying process and then move things around afterwards, but this repeated in-and-out action takes a toll on the handle and the screws holding the handle in place. A number of reviews, including mine, mention the screws keep falling out and/or need re-tightening. After 5-6 times of doing it by hand, and then the last 2 times with needle-nose pliers and a screw-driver, I have now lost one of the screws (hopefully not in any entrees). This would easily be a 4-5 star review otherwise, but seriously Black & Decker (of all brands) should be able to attach a screw to a handle permanently, they obviously spent some time on design of the heating elements and other physical elements, but they completely short-changed themselves on the physical mechanics here.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Fan Not Working I bought this item 5 months ago. Only used it for a handful of times. For some reason, the fan is not working anymore. I tried to unplug and plug to different outlets, but still did not work. I did not keep this receipt as I had no intention to return the item. Very disappointed as my friends had recommended this air fryer to me. Not impress at all. =(
