8-Cup Thermal Programmable Coffeemaker is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good overall, but the lid just broke Like others here I recently had the lid of the pot break. However, I should add that I've had this coffee pot for many years and used it over a 1000 times before this problem occurred, so on the whole I would highly recommend it. I see that the company has been sending out replacements to folks who have noted a similar problem with the lid. Please contact me!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not a robust design The one thing this coffee maker does is make a decent cup of coffee but so do most coffee makers.I've had mine for about 2-3 years now. The level-markings/gauge to show how much water you're putting in disappeared somehow and I had to draw lines over the window to indicate water levels. The weakest part seems to be in the carafe and its lid. The seal/gasket on the lid stretched and the thumb press mechanism to allow pouring coffee seems to be broken now. And the inside of the carafe is badly stained. I'd like to buy a new carafe and lid but I'm not sure how or where and it might end up costing almost as much a just throwing the whole thing out and buying a different unit. The order of operations is important. Set the basket in place carefully, then close the lid and THEN put the carafe in place.I seem to have a lot of trouble finding quality, reliable small appliances from any manufacturer. So many people just want cheap. I wish I could still get Braun. Of course, large appliances aren't what they once were either.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not all bad, but . . .... We owned a precursor to this model for many years (decades?), & I was literally just at that moment marveling to friends about how long it had been performing, when the thing smoked & died! I was happy to buy another B&D machine, but this newer one started off with a few quirks: the spring-opening valve to let coffee drain out of the basket does not line up well with the top of the carafe, so we have to make sure & prop the carafe up on the lip of the base to insure the button is pushed & avoid overflows. Now lately I have had the intake holes in the lid get clogged up with grounds, which results in the same overflows, sometimes even when we rinse the entire machine out after each use. My conclusion is that the basket volume is not enough to hold the amount of ground beans that would make a full carafe at the strength we like, so we are brewing only two thirds of the capacity of the tank/carafe. I am used to the process, but more often lately I find myself reverting to the old funnel & thermos method of making good strong coffee without all the fuss of babying this machine. Just to be fair, when it works, the coffee is good, & stays hot quite a while, & the clock/timer is easy to program.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad lid Purchased this a month ago. tab for pouring broke. We continued to use it, it was just very hard to push down. Now we have to remove lid completely to pour.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Broken lid Overall, I have been very happy with the coffee maker, and really like the fact that the coffee stays hot as long as it does. The lid recently broke, and I have not been able to find a replacement. The rest of the coffee pot works great, and it's frustrating to not be able to get a replacement lid.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great coffee maker, POOR lid construction This has been a good coffee maker, and we particularly like the thermal carafe which keeps the coffee hot without being scorched by a hot plate system. Unfortunately, the lid does not last very long without breaking, and in order to pour coffee you have to remove the lid completely. Replacement lids are no longer available so I am forced to buy another coffee maker....which probably will not be a Black & Decker.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lid and thumb tab broke. I bought this coffee maker model cm1609 because I wanted one with a thermal carafe. The rubber gasket under the lid has been split for over a year. I push the two pieces together every time I brew a pot. Yesterday the tab on the lid broke off. I like the maker but the lid is poorly made. I hope you will replace it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rust corrosion My parents bought this coffee maker and they have had it for a short while. When I came to visit I thought the coffee tasted strange. I was disgusted to see rust corrosion in the pot. Defiantly not well made.
